A simple privacy policy for a simple purpose.

MailZine collects limited personal information so we can tell people about the MailZine product, manage waitlist and contact requests, and let people unsubscribe at any time. We are based in New Zealand, but we aim to handle personal information in a way that is transparent, fair, and workable for people wherever they live.

Effective date: 11 April 2026

What we collect

We aim to collect only the information we need to communicate with you about MailZine. Depending on how you interact with the site, that may include your email address, your name, the contents of a message you send us, and limited technical information such as browser, device, or security data generated when you visit the site or submit a form.

  • If you join the waitlist, we collect the details needed to send product updates, early-access information, and launch-related messages about MailZine.
  • If you contact us, we collect the details needed to reply to your message and keep a record of that conversation.
  • If anti-spam or security tools are used on the site, they may process limited technical data to help prevent abuse.

How we use your information

We use personal information for a narrow set of purposes. The main purpose is to provide information about the MailZine product to people who have asked for it.

  • Send updates about the MailZine product, early access, launch timing, and related service announcements.
  • Respond to questions, feedback, partnership enquiries, and author enquiries.
  • Operate, secure, and improve the website and our communications processes.
  • Maintain unsubscribe and suppression records so that if you opt out, we stop sending marketing emails.

We do not collect personal information to sell it to data brokers or to run unrelated third-party marketing campaigns. If you unsubscribe, we will stop sending marketing emails, though we may keep a minimal record of your opt-out request so we can respect it.

Sharing and service providers

We may use service providers to host the site, process form submissions, protect the site from spam or abuse, store subscriber information, or send email updates. Those providers may process personal information on our behalf, but only for the purposes described in this policy and subject to appropriate confidentiality and security obligations.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to a lawful request, to protect our rights, or to prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues.

International users and cross-border handling

MailZine is operated from New Zealand. Your information may be accessed or processed in New Zealand and, in some cases, by service providers located in other countries. When personal information is handled outside New Zealand, we aim to use providers and arrangements that offer comparable privacy safeguards or otherwise handle transfers in a lawful way.

If you use the site from outside New Zealand, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in New Zealand and other countries where our service providers operate.

Retention and security

We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, including to send updates you requested, respond to enquiries, maintain security, and comply with legal or record-keeping obligations.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, alteration, or disclosure. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights and choices

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in the email or by contacting us. You can also ask to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, or object to certain processing, subject to applicable law.

  • If you no longer want product emails, unsubscribe at any time and we will stop sending them.
  • If you want to know what personal information we hold about you, you can ask for access.
  • If information is inaccurate or incomplete, you can ask us to correct it.
  • If you are in a jurisdiction that gives you additional privacy rights, we will consider and respond to your request in line with applicable law.

Contact

If you have a privacy question, want to make an access or correction request, or want to unsubscribe manually, please contact us through our contact page.
